Our purpose and goal through our organization is to bring about a greater understanding of the Holy Scriptures. We want to feed the believers who hunger and thirst after a greater understanding of God’s Word, not by replacing it, but by giving those individuals additional resources. We do this through our articles that address modern day circumstance through biblical exposition, by giving biblically expositional answers to questions submitted, spreading the gospel through social media platforms, and much more as we develop as an organization. We are not a replacement for the local assembly of believers.
We recognize that the Bible is the very Word of the living God directed to man. With that in mind, The Modern Expositor will continually teach the Word with power and authority. This is for the equipping of the saints for the work of our Lord and furtherance of the gospel message.
The Father
God the father is the first person in the triune Godhead. He orders and disposes all things according to His will. (1 Corinthians 8:9) He is the creator of all things (Genesis 1:1-31). As the only holy and omnipotent Ruler of the universe he is sovereign in his creation, providence, and redemption. His love for humanity led to Him sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the sin debt so that man might be redeemed. He has always known the plan of redemption, salvation, and glorification even from the beginning and He works all things out to fulfill His purpose.
The Son
God the Son is the second person of the triune Godhead. He was in the beginning with the Father and is God as the Father is also (John 1). He is God the Father's instrument of Salvation and He came to earth as Jesus Christ. As the prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament, Christ came to forgive and cleanse man of his sin. On the cross, Christ not only bore physical pain, but he took on the entire wrath of God the Father. He took it fully so that God's wrath would not be upon man and thus through faith, man could be redeemed and have communion with God. We believe that on the basis of the efficacy of the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, the believing sinner is freed from the punishment, the penalty, the power, and one day the very presence of sin; and that he is declared righteous, given eternal life, and adopted into the family of God (Romans 3:25; 5:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15; 1 Peter 2:24; 3:18).
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune Godhead. We teach that the Holy Spirit is a divine Person, eternal, underived, possessing all the attributes of personality and deity, including intellect, emotions, will, eternality, omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotence, and truthfulness. In all the divine attributes He is coequal with the Father and the Son (Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3-4; 28:25-26; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; and Jeremiah 31:31-34 with Hebrews 10:15-17).
We teach that the Holy Spirit is the supernatural and sovereign Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13). The Holy Spirit also indwells, sanctifies, instructs, empowers them for service, and seals them unto the day of redemption (Romans 8:9; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13).
We teach that the Holy Spirit is the divine Teacher, who guided the apostles and prophets into all truth as they committed to writing God's revelation, the Bible (2 Peter 1:19-21). Every believer possesses the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit from the moment of salvation, and it is the duty of all those born of the Spirit to be filled with (controlled by) the Spirit (John 16:13; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 5:18; 1 John 2:20, 27).
The Church
The Church is the body of saved believers of the whole world. When we say 'church' we often think about the local church. The local church is a local body of believers that fellowship together, teach the Word of God as the only source of divine authority given directly to man, disciple new believers, are lead by a pastor and elders that are in accordance with the qualification given in Timothy and Titus, and work for the furtherance of the gospel.
